Yoga

Yoga_MatsBecause of my personality type (work hard, play hard) I need personal wellness regimes that slow me down to create balance.  Although everyone needs some cardiovascular workouts, I personally don’t gravitate towards them because I find it depletes my energy.  With that being said, I get my cardio in but I try to change up my cardio routine as much as possible so I don’t recognize it as traditional cardio exercising.

To offset the cardio workouts, I attend multiple yoga classes per week.  Pending my mood and what the body needs I will partake in a restorative yoga class or something more rigorous like a vinyasa or hot yoga class.

Oftentimes I turn to the Yoga Center of Minneapolis, which offers one of the largest varieties of yoga as well as instructors within Minneapolis.  Of course I’m biased because my private practice for holistic health and healing is located at the YCM Dharma Wellness & Spa but I want to give back to the local community as well as support another woman owned business.

An old friend coined me as ‘gucci granola’ and the nickname has stuck.  When I’m practicing yoga or any physical exercise, my gucci granola side comes out because I turn to the most comfortable, functional, yet fun apparel from lululemon athletica.  There’s nothing worse than being concerned if your shorts are going to ride up while I'm running or pants riding too low when you’re in a yoga pose.  If your clothes are pulling and shifting in ways that make you uncomfortable then your mind and body will be doing too much housekeeping and lose focus on your practice.  Why not come to the mat ready to sweat in comfort leaving your worries behind!
